Progress calendar design exploration.
I was curious about the psychology of humans with respect to time, and wondered why I felt limited by traditional monthly calendars. I created this calendar out of necessity, seeking a design that worked best to show the progression of time by crossing out the dates. During my research, I discovered that humans perceive time much better spatially than numerically, so I focused on this as the conceptual direction.
A typical calendar will only display dates arranged across a spread of a week (and within a month); I challenged the norm of this format, and instead arranged the dates of each month across a single horizontal line. The months are displayed simultaneously to easily visualize the progression of time more broadly and relative to each other. I consider this design to be an early iteration for future explorations of this concept.
