Smiley Face Preservations 

2021 

Preservered (and reclaimed) vintage smiley face graphics.

I digitized a wide variety sourced from various old t-shirts, merchandise, ephemera and objects in the public domain.

In my practice as a designer, I believe sampling is a critical technique to create new work, recycle old work, and converse with the history of design. Though I did not necessarily create these designs, my intention was to preserve each one as a vector file and provide them back into the public domain as a free resource. These preservations were further cemented through prints on t-shirts and paper.
